Victim Advocate Program

Victim Advocate Program

Our Domestic Violence Program works with our local sheriff’s department to provide assistance to domestic violence victims in the moment of the crime.

Studies have shown that counseling and support in the moment of the crisis can result in more victims going forward with legal action and counseling.

By having an advocate physically in the Sheriff’s Station we are able to offer:

  • Peer Counseling
  • Referrals for Shelter
  • Guidance for next step options

(Services are also available over the phone and after the scene of the crime has been made secure)

This program will depend on the Sheriff’s utilizing the services of the Domestic Violence Advocate and sharing the information with the victims when possible. Our goal is to see an increase in the amount of victims that go forward with legal action and enroll in services at our Outreach Center. We hope to end the Cycle of Abuse in as many relationships as possible and empower these women to choose a different path.
