Important Agency News: We’re Merging!

Important Agency News: We’re Merging!
July 25, 2017 Linda Davies

A Letter to Our Supporters from Executive Director, Linda Davies

We have wonderful news to share! Thanks to your support, The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley has grown tremendously, in fact three-fold in just the past five years. With your help, we have added many life-changing services including prevention programs in schools and court advocacy services. In 2016 alone we served 1,660 clients! And now, with the best interest of our existing and future clients in mind, it is with great excitement that I announce The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley and Child & Family Center will be joining forces and merging into a single organization. We strongly believe this decision will help us grow and better serve the needs of our community and clients.

A Shared Mission

Child & Family Center has the shared mission of changing lives and healing relationships. By coming together, we will continue to deliver on this mission while expanding our services by offering a greater continuum of care to those in need.

The Domestic Violence Center will become a new department of Child & Family Center known as the Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Program. While the domestic violence program will be under Child & Family Center’s umbrella of services, it will continue to operate under my guidance as a satellite office at the Savia Community Center in Newhall, located at 23780 Newhall Avenue. We will also continue to offer the 30-day emergency shelter in Santa Clarita.

Our two agencies arrived at this decision with the help and support of the California Community Foundation Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency, reduce duplication of services and facilitate partnerships in the nonprofit sector. The boards of both agencies voted approval of the merger in March of this year and the union is expected to be completed by 2018.

Our Future

Let me take this opportunity to thank you again for your continued support. Although we are saying goodbye to our past; 33 years of operating as The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley, the spirit of our organization will continue in Child & Family Center and the future looks bright!

As we strengthen our efforts and carry our mission into this new venture, your continued support is very important to us. Your donations of time and financial contributions will become even more vital as we work to create greater long term sustainability of our programs. DVC fundraisers and volunteer opportunities are still available for the rest of this year and I look forward to seeing you! Please visit our events page for important upcoming dates.

Warm regards,
Linda Davies
